About Me
Hi, I’m Jack, a counsellor whose path has been shaped as much by lived experience as by professional training.
Before I ever stepped into a therapy room, much of my life was spent feeling stuck. I grew up navigating long-term illness, loss, addiction, and complex personal challenges that deeply shaped how I understood myself and the world around me.
Living with chronic health conditions from a young age brought physical and emotional strain, and becoming a parent to neurodiverse children taught me patience, acceptance, and the importance of understanding difference. At times, difficult circumstances led me into unhealthy coping patterns and into contact with the justice system. These periods were challenging, but they ultimately became turning points that changed the direction of my life.
A Shift Toward Understanding
Over time, I began to see that the only lasting way forward was to stop, reflect, and understand the patterns that were holding me back. That process wasn’t easy, but it was transformative. It taught me that healing begins when we learn to be honest with ourselves and start to see our experiences through a different lens.
This shift inspired me to rebuild, learn, and eventually retrain so I could support others going through their own difficult chapters.
Professional Training
I am now a qualified counsellor with a BA (Hons) in Integrative Counselling Practice, a registered member of the BACP, and a certified Rewind Technique practitioner. My work is grounded in professional training, evidence-based theory, and a deep understanding of what it feels like to be overwhelmed, lost, or unsure of how to move forward.
What I Bring to Our Work
Because of the life I’ve lived, I don’t just understand struggle from the outside, I know it from the inside. This allows me to offer a therapy space that is:
-
empathic and non-judgemental
-
grounded in lived reality as well as clinical knowledge
-
honest, safe, and focused on your growth
My aim isn’t to analyse you from a distance; it’s to walk alongside you as you make sense of your experiences, rediscover your strengths, and find new ways of being in the world.
Moving Forward
Today, my life looks very different, not perfect, but grounded, peaceful, and real. I’m a father of three neurodiverse children, continually learning from them, and committed to supporting others who feel stuck or weighed down by their past.
My mission is simple:
to help people understand themselves more deeply, grow into stronger and more authentic versions of who they are, and discover that change is genuinely possible.
Issues I Can Help With
I offer support with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, suicide, suicidal ideation, self harm stress, trauma, PTSD, panic, agoraphobia, OCD, grief, loss, bereavement, and coping with illness or a cancer diagnosis.
